Michael Judan is a 2011 graduate of Hillcrest High school. He has performed in many of his high school plays such as Grease, RENT, The Servant of two Masters and No Show. He has previously competed in the August Wilson Monologue Competition twice. Acting is something Michael loves to do. For Michael, acting is the best way to vent out his emotions without hurting anybody. He feel that acting and theatre goes hand in hand. Whether your acting in a Shakespearean play or August Wilson play, even though there is a huge difference in time, they both have their similar emotions and struggles. Theatre will change, but as it does, we will never lose interest in it. Michael credits Hillcrest High school with helping him to find his love for acting. They helped him expand as an actor and as a person. The experiences Michael has been through have made him the person he is today.

Theatre is my passion and that is why I have been apart of William Inges “Bus Stop”, a play that my school had produced as the Niave, Intelligent Elma Duckworht. I am honored to be able to be apart of all of the talent that I had seen in everyone who surrounded me.

Paul Edme

Personally I think one of the most interesting facts about me is my background. I was born in Mexico city to Haitian parents in January 5th ’92. Ever since I can remember, acting has been my profession of choice and my brother Junior, had a lot to do with why I started liking it. I consider him my number one mentor and inspiration for being an actor because he is also an actor.

But I also love music, like singing and dancing. I’m actually also part of a dance team. That is why my favorite kind of plays to watch and to perform in are musicals because that is where I get a chance to mix in my love for music with my passion for acting in one.

In Hillcrest High School I had a great time expanding my knowledge of acting. During the beginning my senior year I was voted Thespian president where I planned trips and events with the rest of the thespian troupe to shows and plays. Also this year, I performed in and directed two plays in school and a musical.

But at the end of the day the most important thing is doing what you love and loving what you do, and I do , especially in my school because as one of my best friends says ..”Everybody loves everybody”

One of Impact Broadway’s Founding Members is Hjordy’s Matos. She is a student at City College and has been singing and acting for years.

When the two musical legends, legendary writer and producer Vy Higginsen and gospel legend Dr. Emily “Cissy” Houston in 2006, joined forces to teach aspiring teenagers about the importance of gospel music as an art form, they pegged Hjody’s as one of their founding members for the amazing movement they would create.

It was called Gospel for Teens.

Gospel for Teens Program is a program of The Mama Foundation for the Arts and Vy’s Higginsen’s School of Gospel, Jazz and R&B Arts has grown to be a highly respected and influential program for youth between 13 and 19. There was another part of the program that was a vehicle to showcase the work the young people had done. Gospel for Teens Choir Under the direction of the Foundation’s seasoned music masters, the Gospel for Teens Choir has performed at various venues across New York City including the world famous Apollo Theater, the American Museum of Natural History, and St. Paul Community Baptist Church.

When Hjordy’s graduated from the choir. She was included in the successful Off Broadway Play, Platanos and Collard Greens.

Hjordy’s is an eloquent mix of tradition and describes herself as a new-age Dominicana. Born and raised in Santiago, Hjordy’s tributes her talents to her beautiful mother, a mentor in spirit every step of the way.

After winning dozens of talent shows in her hometown, Hjordy’s, a singer, actress and dancer was chosen to join the original Gospel for Teens, a group put together by Vy Higgensen and Cissy Houston as their lead soprano, performing all across New York City. She has danced with The Millenium Dance Complex in LA along with the Black River Dance in New York. Vocally, she trained with Broadway veteran Julio Agustin Matos, Jr. and is currently studying classical voice with Janet Steele. Hjordy’s made her acting debut as Angelita in the national tour of Platanos and Collard Greens and currently appears in their off Broadway production.
