Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School

School Bio:

Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School in Canarsie, Brooklyn was founded in September 2007 in partnership with Vital Theatre Company. The school offers students the opportunity to study theatre from grades 9-12 while also pursuing their regents or Advanced Regents Diploma. Vital Teaching Artists offer  4-12 week residencies that integrate theatre arts into the core academic curriculum in order to fully engage students while simultaneously building self esteem and teaching the skills necessary for creative expression. Theatre Arts integration includes Math/Technical Theatre, Living Environment/Playwrighting, ELA and Theatre Electives support through visiting Guest Artists.
Now in its fourth year, BTAHS offers two student production opportunities per grade, plus one all school musical. Field trips to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, membership in clubs like Impact Broadway and student-run dance club, art club and glee club round out the vibrant BTAHS community.
