Manhattan Theatre Lab High is a high school designed to train, nurture, and edify students with sincere aspirations in Theatre, Music and Dance. Our mission also includes providing a learning community where academic rigor and creative expression go hand in hand. The teaching environment will encompass the utilization of a multicultural approach in all subjects. Excellence in the academics, as well as the arts, is expected of all students.
Interesting Facts about Manhattan Theatre Lab
MTL is a school that has an artistic season that has included Raisin the Musical, A Soldier’s Play, Blues for An Alabama Sky, The Wiz and recently Livin In The Life written and directed by Principal Collins. The students have been feature in performances at Ciprianis and Broadway to the Boroughs at American Airline Theater. Students have won Poets Den Theatre Shakespeare Monolgue Contest and the Roundabout Theatre Glass Menagerie Scene Contest. Their online performances have a strong following on YouTube.

School Bio:
The mission of Thurgood Marshall Academy (TMA) is to provide students and their families with the experiences they need to meet the challenges of the colleges, universities and the work force in the twenty-first century. Furthermore, we prepare them to meet the challenges of participating in a culturally diverse society. We strongly believe that educating the students of Thurgood Marshall Academy is the resonsibility of our entire community, as reflected in the African proverb, “it takes a village to raise a child.” Therefore, the school program incorporates parental involvement as well as collaborative efforts with institutions, organizations, and resources in Central Harlem.
