Did you know that in the incredibly diverse borough of Brooklyn there are mummies from Egypt in the permanent collection at the recently renovated Brooklyn Museum of Art? When is the last time you dropped by the museum’s popular First Saturday event to catch a concert, dance performance, sit for a film screening or partake of great food? Did you know there is a devoted shuttle called the Heart of Brooklyn that makes stops at all of the major cultural spots: Botanical Garden, the Prospect Park Marketplace, the shops up and down Flatbush and even the Brooklyn Library?
Have you heard about the Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert series at Wingate Field? Every Monday from July 13th – August 24 you can enjoy artists such as Keysha Cole, Lyle Jennings and Jazmine Sullivan are all on the roster. Go to the http://www.brooklynconcerts.com/mlk.html for full schedule. If concerts are your thing that you should also check out Celebrate Brooklyn! 2009 season at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Still FREE and all performances are rain or shine so go to the briconline.org website. Also, Prospect Park has a whole menu of summer activity going on.
But most of all, we want you to check out local theaters like the Billy Holiday Theater at Restoration Plaza on Fulton or the tribute to the legendary Dreamland amusement park in Coney Island. Brooklyn is definitely on fire this summer!
